2012 Baseball Hall of Fame voting breakdown
Skunk - well put, in regards to writers letting their egos get in the way. Look at Jim Rice's numbers and then look at Albert Belle's and tell me which one put together a better career. Belle trumps Rice in just about every way. The reason why Rice got in and Belle didn't had nothing to do with impact; rather, it had everything to do with the writers "getting back" at Belle for being an ahole.Slugr - nobody cares if you don't go to Cooperstown. If you're such a smug grudge-holder, I'm pretty sure Cooperstown is glad you're not there. Get over yourself. I think McGriff should've been a 1st-ballot HOFer, but he'll probably never get in. Yet I'd still cherish the chance to go to Cooperstown just to see jerseys worn by Gehrig and bats used by Ruth. Stop being a douche.

2012 Baseball Hall of Fame voting breakdown
I'm interested to see the reaction from the Steroid Players like McGwire, Palmiero,?and Bonds when someone gets in the Hall who they know was a user.? Will they be irrate that they didn't get in when another user did?? Maybe it's already happened and they're keeping their mouths shut, but eventually someone will "tell all."
Rose?? Banned from baseball means banned from baseball.? If Vegas wants to put him in their Hall, fine.? If you knowingly break a law, or in this case rule, I have no sympathy for you when you get busted. Deal with it.?Loved him as a player though.
Morris should be in.? He may not have been the BEST pitcher of the 80s, but he was top rung. My guess is the Writers thought he was a jerk.? They often let their egos do the voting.

The Baseball Hall of Fame is suppose to be for the greatest of the great. I grew up in the Mantle, Maris led Yankees era, but not really a yankee fan. I got to see Clemente play, Hank Aaron play, and right up to present day players. With all the supposely steriod use, a lot of reaaly good players arent going to get in. I will never attend the Hall of Fame until the day that they put Pete Rose in. He deserves to be in for what he done as a player, which is how all these other players got in. The greatest hits leader of all time, and until he gets his due, the Baseall Hall of Fame is a joke.

First off, I 100% agree that Selig's being the commish should be a crime. This guy is a joke. What does Rickey Henderson have to do with anything? Just because he played with Canseco and McGwire (not Palmeiro and only Tejada for a short period) doesnt mean he took PEDs, you idiot! Henderson had a fairly natural decline in his numbers as he aged. By far his best seasons came when he was still young and in his prime, unlike most of the others mentioned. And Henderson never officially retired, either. He simply couldnt get signed on. He didnt choose to quit to avoid testing, as you imply.
Ty Cobb was voted into the Hall in the 1930s. The voters are, umm, different now than they were then, unless one of the original voters is like 140 years old and is still voting.
Pete Rose got the Joe Jackson treatment, which is actually fairly consistent thinking. The problem with this argument, though, is that NOBODY ON THE BWAA BANNED Rose! The commish did! Frankly, if Rose were on the ballot, I think the writers would vote him in without much pause.

Who made a mockery of their voting rights by choosing E4?? That voter should have his priviledges revoked.
I'm not going to get into a stats war arguing who should and shouldn't make it into the HOF based on this stat or that.? But here is something I do have an oppinion on.? To me, there is a difference between voting for a person because you think he should be in the HOF and voting for a person becasue you think a person deserves a VOTE for the HOF.?
I know some people will say, strongly that only people who deserve to be in the HOF should get a vote for the HOF, but I think that getting a vote is a legitamate honor in itself, and a voter wants to bestow that honor on a player, he has a right to do so.? Actually, they have a right to vote for anyone they want.? It is their decision.?
Besides, it's not like a stray vote here or there will accidently get someone elected to the Hall.? What, 75% of the voters think a guy should get a single vote?? Not anywhere near 75% of the voters even use votes this way, and those that do, do so sparingly.?
I'd say it highly unlikely that it even would cause someone to get 5% of the votes without the voters trying to make a lagitamate case for their enshrinment.?
So lay off the voters.? If they want to give a shout out to a player who meant a lot to them, and deserves a recognition in their opinion, then let them go ahead and give it to them.? It's only a single vote.?

Integrity issues aren't only surrounding the PED quagmire, the BBWAA has issues, too.In an increasingly self serving and sensationalist industry, the BBWAA are now recieving pressure from Selig's office to extract some type of subjective, retroactive, "exclusion justice" in the HOF vote, as a defacto band aid?the MLB?integrity amputation that was brutally performed under Bud Selig's watch.
The HOF vote will forever be more subjective, and less credible because of integrity issues. The damage to MLB is irrepairable, but it isn't all about PED's.
Dale Murphy's HR and MVP count is pretty Barry Bonds-ish if you discount the 351 known PED HR's Bonds hit after age 35. Tim Raines' connection to cocaine made him no less dominant or deserving than fellow cokehead?(and HOF) Fergie Jenkins. McGwire, Palmiero, Canseco and Tejada are PED?shunned, but?A's teammate Rickey Henderson retired before the PED heat was turned up, and already is in the HOF. ?Ty Cobb admitted to blowing a game he managed to effect the AL Pennant outcome, and Pete Rose admitted to betting on his team to win as a manager, but Rose can't get on the HOF ballot as the All-Time hit leader, even though not a single hit was PED or gambling effected.
How is this mess in "The best interests of baseball" ? It isn't, but that IS the primary mission statement for the Commissoner Of Baseball...ALL this IS ON BUD SELIG'S WATCH, and he's still the top dog in MLB...THAT should be a crime.

Would people stop griping about the handful of votes that guys like Castilla, Salmon, and EY get? The voters know these guys arent going to get in, but most likely the player was a decent guy to that particular voter, so the voter threw him a vote. What's the big deal? Every single guy on this ballot had a good/great career and deserves to be on the ballot for consideration. They all played 10 years of baseball at the highest level of competition on the planet...that's impressive enough as it is.
Still, I'm a bit surprised that nobody voted for Sierra. I figured he'd get a vote or two just for his glory days with Texas back in the 80s. He led the league in triples, too, if I remember right.
And EY? The guy hit the most famous homerun in Rockies history when he homered to lead off the first Major League game ever played in Denver. I'd give em a vote for that alone.

are you seriuos jack morris won 4 rings i use to love dale murphy but its not even close jack morris was the best pithcher in all of the 80's how can he not get voted in its a tragedy that the biggest? game pitcher isnt in the hall thats fing ridiculous 250 wins was ace on everystaff he was on made rotation better for every team he was on look at the yeasr on the twins and look at there pitchers record that year and look after he left lol.I'm not sure which language you're trying to use, but I think I got the main points.? First, you should know Jack Morris didn't win 4 rings.? So if you're using that as your main point, you should rethink it.? Second, very few people would consider Jack Morris the best pitcher of the 80's.? He had the most wins in years that begin with 198, but there were several pitchers who were statistically better during that period.? Third, 250 wins is impressive but, again, that's as much a function of his durability and his awesome teammates as anything else.? Fourth, there are a lot of pitchers who made the rotations they pitched in better.
I'm not trying to bash Jack Morris here.? I would be perfectly OK with him making the Hall.? I just think some of these arguments are ridiculous.? Particularly the one that is factually wrong.
